A (Very) Brief History of Resurrection Drums
Resurrection Drums began in a small warehouse in Ft. Lauderdale in the early 1980’s. We would take old, beat-up, but great sounding drums and with a little tweaking of the edges, stripping, sanding, and refinishing; resurrect them into “new” drums with an aged wood sound.
In 1983 there was a knock on the door. The warehouse would have to be torn down because it was in the path of a major expressway that was under construction. It was decided to not only move to a new building but open a full scale drum shop which sold new and used drums, provided lessons and create its own custom line of drums while continuing with our drum repairs and refurbishing. Since that day, Resurrection Drums has grown into one of the world’s largest and finest drum shops. But never losing focus on what got us here: Service, knowledge and an environment where drummers think they died and went to drum heaven! Resurrection not only carries major lines like Pearl, DW and Sonor, but also smaller boutique companies like Noble and Cooley, Brady and Dunnett. Our commitment to product knowledge and customer service didn’t go unnoticed. In 2005, Music Inc. Magazine awarded us a REX (Retailer Excellence Award) recognizing us as the music retailer with the best customer service in North America!
In February 2007, after twenty seven years in Hallandale Beach we moved to our new, bigger building in Hollywood. We had planned it from the beginning to better facilitate drummers worldwide, while maintaining our warm and friendly atmosphere. In the years ahead, we will continue to provide expert service to the drummers of South Florida and the world. The best is yet to come!
